Interactive Slimline Advent Calendars

We are kicking off our Countdown to Christmas Inspiration with two interactive slimline advent calendars! Both cards pop up and can be displayed as a home decor piece. Your recipients are sure to display these beautiful masterpieces all season long!
My first advent has a nativity theme and features message holders behind each door of the calendar, perfect to add a personal message everyday leading up to Christmas Eve.
My second calendar steps it up, and behind each door, is a box to hold small candies, chocolates, sequins, or really any small item! I love that this version is a true physical advent calendar that someone can open to reveal a hidden surprise each day!

Video Tutorial

Card One

Both of my cards today coordinate with the "Slimline Pop up Birdhouse" die set. I used the advent calendar add-on die set to cut the 24 doors for my calendars.

Card one is perfect for card makers, because this calendar can flatten and be mailed inside a #10 business sized slimline envelope! In order for this to fold flat, you will have to use the connector piece that's included in the slimline pop up bird house die set.

Here's a peek inside the doors of my calendar. I added message holders from the mini pop up box die set behind each door so I can tuck a hand written note inside each one.

I decorated the front of my advent calendar with the numbers included in the "Advent Calendar add-on" die set. To help them stand out, I cut each number once from gold mirror card stock and twice from heavy weight white card stock.I glued the two white numbers behind the gold numbers to add dimension. I did the same thing with the star shaped door knobs.

At the top of my house, I added one of the decorative roofs from the "Christmas Roof Bundle" die set. I also added a chimney which I die cut from the "Neighborhood House add-on" die set.

On top of my message holders, I added some gold heat embossed icons from the "Nativity Icons" 4x6 stamp set.

Card Two

Instead of adding numbers to decorate the front of my second calendar, I decided to decorate each door with some more heat embossed Christmas Icons. These came from the "Christmas Icons" 4x6 stamp set.

My calendar is extra festive, because I chose to die cut my main card panels from Christmas plaid pattern paper. This is a quick and easy way to use up those 12x12 pattern papers in your stash!

I added another decorative roof from the "Christmas Roof Bundle" die set. This time, I went with the string of lights. I also added another chimney.

Instead of adding message holders inside my calendar, I added small boxes behind my doors. I created these boxes using the "Mini Pop up Box" die set. The boxes are about 0.75" so you can fit quite a few different things inside each one including a single Hershey Kiss, small embellishments, sequins, gems, small candies and chocolates, jewelry etc. The possibilities are endless!

I hope you all enjoyed my two cards today, I can't wait to show you the other projects and card designs I created using the latest Scrappy Tails Crafts Christmas release!

For our weekend launch only, we have an advent calendar die set bundle that is marked down 10%. This bundle includes every die set you need to create these two cards. Included in the set is also a German Christmas House add-on die  set that also coordinates with the slimline pop up bird house!

This offer ends on Monday August 9th at 11:59 PM EST. After that, the bundle goes back to regular price!

Happy shopping, and I'll see ya next time.
