Product Description:

You, our customers, have requested more A7 cover plates and frames, and we have listened to you and focused this entire collection on your wishes. With the Classic Horror collection, Scrappy Tails is focusing on some iconic and classic horror/ Halloween books, that have stood the test of time. We have created cover plates to celebrate these classics. These cover plates are just a tad smaller than a standard A7 card size (5x7 inches) to leave just a small decorative border around your card front panel. These cover plates are also specifically designed to work with Scrappy Tails Crafts best selling and most beloved A7 Pop Up Book Metal Craft Die. If you own our A7 Pop up Book, these cover plates are a must have addition to your collection. If you are new to our pop up books (which includes a very cool interior shadow box), then we would love to invite you to check out our many tutorials on how to create these amazing pop up book cards. They are amazing, because while they are dimensional, they can also still fold flat for mailing as a unique and extraordinary card!

The Edgar Allan Poe “Nevermore” cover plate of course focuses on the beloved novel by the most iconic of all horror genre authors of the old age. Our cover plate has a very unique outside frame die, which actually does not create a frame like in our usual book cover plates, but it rather creates an old tattered page design that is almost 5x7 inches in size and could be the background die to so many of your A7 sized cards, independent of being used as a book page. It has a distressed, tattered design all the way around the outer parameter and it just asks for your distress inks and techniques to make things look old. Looking at the other dies nested within your set, it is showing some of the famous imagery from the Edgar Allan Poe times, including the Raven of course along with a big old skull that the oversized raven is sitting on. The raven is also sitting on some gnarly tree branches that are meant to be glued below the skull. The skull is quite amazing as it layers up in multiple layers creating dimension as though you are looking inside a very old, half way decayed skull. Layer up like colors from the same color family (maybe in different lightness and shading to create super three dimensional skulls). Also included are the words from the book title “The Raven” , along with the words that spell out the author’s name “Edgar Allan Poe” and then also the words and numbers “New York 1845”, which signify the original first print addition of The Raven novel.

This set is designed to work best when used in conjunction with any other element of the “Horror Classics” Halloween collection. Please check out our entire “Horror Classics” collection and mix and match your favorite pieces.

Directions for metal craft die use:

  1. Gently remove the metal craft die from it’s packaging
  2. Using your favorite die-cutting machine, lay a piece of strong card-stock facing the sharp edges of the die and run the required “plate sandwich” through your machine (please note that different machines use different die-cutting sandwiches)
  3. These dies are thin steel dies and they work in most available manual and automatic die cutting machines, such as your Vagabond, Cuttlebug, Gemini, Gemini junior, Spellbinder’s Platinum, Big Kick, Big Shot etc.
